my husband is a collector and we have this out all year. Even though it is a halloween decoration it works for all seasons within a collection and has a long battery life.

My little sister loves skulls and was in need of a new night light. It runs on batteries, but it isn't like anything I have ever seen. She loved it and it's so heavy it doubles as a paperweight. lol

It made a great x-mas present and looks great! Glows great too! If you like skulls you will have to add this to your collection!

I am an artist and this book has been such an inspiration to me. These people are absolutely beautiful, the photography is beautiful and it is all presented with elegance and simplicity. This books takes my breath away and I am mesmerized everyday when I open it's pages.

Beautiful imagery. It will have you near tears... One of my most precious finds in recent months...the faces, the creativity, raw natural talent. Unbelievable. A wonderful book to draw inspiration from.

My interest in this subject (the people of the Omo valley in Ethiopia) started with a YouTube (called The People of Omo) that I had sent to me. I googled the photographer (Hans Silvester) and found 2 books that were available here, and VERY reasonably priced. I jumped to purchase them- LOVE his work- wonderful photo artist/journalist. The poignant beauty of this primitive (but VERY detailed and artistic)body painting is a way of life, and the variety of plants and flowers these people incorporate into their elaborate body art is exquisite. I'd recommend any of Hans Silvester's photography books; apparently, he has many more. Wonderful eye for form,light and texture.

I learned of this book from the woman who does my hair, British, named Helen. She had brought it to the salon. I looked through it, finding the images compelling & beautiful, strange & hypnotic. Hans Silvester's NATURAL FASHION: TRIBAL DECORATION FROM AFRICA is a powerful presentation of East African tribal decoration routines. The Omo tribes use nature as accessories, whether it be leaves, flowers or butterfly wings: their fashion choices and way of life is documented with full-page color photos and accompanying historical insights.

i bought the book originally for the tattoos... if you're wanting to buy it for the same reason i did, or maybe add some of the tattoos in here to your tattoo library, i'd say wait for the price to drop a lil. you're better off just searching for gang symbols online. there's better and clearer ones anyways online.. the tattoo's that are in this book are mostly those of AB (Aryan Brotherhood) and yakuza, russian mafia. if you're looking for crip and blood symbols, or latin king, you will be disappointed as there are not many in here.. there are a couple, but not much. on the tattoo end, the book caters more to the nazi/skinhead and yakuza tattoos. there is 2 of La Eme in here. a few crip ones, but mostly sets: GbC, N-Hood, 60's. and of blood: black p stone there's 1 BGF (black guerilla family), a few of nuestra familia. some are of simple clear text, some are hard to read. you'd be better off just going online looking for some... or cruising around your local hood and taking pics of the graffiti that are on the walls (be careful if you choose to do this).. lol.. don't waste your time w/ this one.

This book is a must for correctional officiers and nurses that work in corrections. very informative.

If you have any need for this kind of information, I highly recommend this book. Very few of us need to be able to identify gang members by their tattoos, but this is a valuable resource for those who are interested. Social workers, probation officers, and others who work with high-risk or at-risk populations should read this book and keep it with their personal collections.

Authors both experienced correctional officers, 20 and 8 years respectively, for Nevada State Prison, bring expertise to study of gangs in the U.S. Herein they detail the composite of gangs both inside prisons and on the streets, the methodology of gang origin, initiation rituals for membership, gang identification, oaths and activities. The history and composition of prison and street gangs is carefully specified for various gang types that includes White Hate Groups, African American, Hispanic, Asian & Pacific Islander, & Russian. Interesting commentary is provided on the origin of gangs, motivations to join, targets of gang members and groups they protect. The various oaths, allegiances, requirements, duties and street signing and gang identifying markings (tattoos) are profusely illustrated. If you are interested and want to know what the tatoos mean. This is a good way to find out without having to ask the person who has them. :0)

Was given an assignment to get Maori mask ideas.Having never seen one before ,I bought the book.The book gives rather dated ethnography behind the traditional patterns from various museums,much of it poorly reproduced, certainly nothing like the striking graphic art on the cover. Do not let me slag the book for you.This book depicts spiritual people in a spiritual quest, no matter what Victorians thought about it.If you are an artist you will find a spiritual space to start the design process yourself rather than mindlessly ripping off work of modern tattoo artists.

Great art work in this book. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Polynesian culture and the art work.

Absolutely a great find. I'm glad I grabbed this one. It has a lot of relevance to todays tatooes.

I've read a lot about Maori tattooing, and this book is very informative and interesting. I strongly reccommend it for educational or personal research.
